TikTok Comment Insights helps you find recurring themes, suggestions and questions in audience comments. To open it for your own post, go to Profile → post → More insights or More data → Engagement, then select a topic under Comments. TikTok’s official Comment Insights guide explains the available routes.
For a business, the useful next step is a decision: which customer question should your next video answer? A product demonstration may show the finished result beautifully while leaving viewers unsure about setup, size or everyday use. This guide gives you a repeatable way to turn those gaps into a focused video brief.
Find the comments you want to learn from
In the TikTok Studio app, open Analytics → Engagement. On a computer, open TikTok Studio, choose Posts, select View analytics beside your post and open a comment topic. The feature is for people aged 18 or older and is not available everywhere.
Start with one video connected to an actual business goal: a product introduction, a how-to demonstration or an explanation of your service. Choose something you can follow up with a concrete answer. Keep the original post nearby so you can compare the audience’s question with what your video actually showed.
Read the underlying comments before deciding what to film. Record the question in plain language and separate the useful request from greetings, compliments or unrelated discussion. A comment is most actionable when you can point to the missing information and show how a follow-up would supply it.
Use a question-review worksheet
Create a small working sheet with one row per question. Record the source post, the question, the detail needed to answer it, your proposed response and the person who can verify the answer. If several comments concern the same issue, group them for planning while keeping enough context to understand the different situations.
The following table is an editorial planning aid. Its categories are choices you can use in your own workflow, rather than labels you should expect to see inside TikTok.
| What the viewer needs | A useful next response |
|---|---|
| A visible action: “How does that part come out?” | Film the action from the angle that makes it easiest to follow. Begin before the movement starts and show the completed result. |
| A fit check: “Will this work in my space?” | Show the relevant dimensions or setup requirement using information you have verified for the product. Make the measurement easy to read. |
| A choice: “Which version suits this situation?” | Pick one realistic use case and explain the decision criteria. Show the relevant difference instead of repeating every feature. |
| A next step: “Where can I see the options?” | Give a concise answer and direct the viewer to the matching destination. Check that it contains the information your reply promises. |
Choose a question you can answer clearly with the equipment, information and products you already have. Give priority to questions that matter to the audience you want to serve. A request may be interesting without fitting your offer; keep the next video focused on a genuine customer decision.
If you also want to investigate what people search for beyond your comment section, use our TikTok Creator Search Insights guide. Keep the two inputs separate in your notes: one comes from responses to a post, the other from your search-topic research.
Worked example: a lunchbox cleaning demonstration
Imagine a fictional small business selling reusable lunchboxes. Its first video shows a packed lunch and a close-up of the compartments. A viewer asks whether the internal tray can be removed for cleaning. This is an illustrative planning example, not a real customer comment or campaign result.
The business first checks the instructions for the model it will film. For this example, assume the tray is removable. The follow-up video has one job: show the removal clearly. It does not need to repeat the entire product introduction or make additional cleaning claims.
- Opening: Put the lunchbox and tray in frame and say what you are about to demonstrate.
- Demonstration: Show where to hold the tray, remove it at a natural pace and place it beside the base. Keep your hands from hiding the connection.
- Clarification: Identify the model shown. Use its verified care instructions for any washing advice you include.
- Close: Invite viewers to check the model details or ask a specific follow-up question about everyday use.
Before filming, ask a teammate to read the proposed answer. Can they tell which part moves and what they should look for? If the answer depends on a detail outside the frame, change the shot plan. Our product demo video script template helps pair each spoken line with the action on camera.
Copy this follow-up video brief
| Planning field | What to write |
|---|---|
| Audience question | The practical question you will answer, with a reference to the source post. |
| One-sentence answer | The accurate answer you want the viewer to understand after watching. |
| Visible proof | The action, measurement or product detail you will show on camera. |
| Preparation | The correct model, clean filming space and any instructions or information you need to verify. |
| Next action | One relevant destination or question that continues the conversation. |
| Review note | What you will check after publishing: clarity of replies, new questions and relevant visitor actions. |
Review the answer and keep the conversation useful
Watch the finished clip from the perspective of someone seeing the product for the first time. Check that the opening matches the question, the demonstration answers it and the closing direction is easy to follow. If your next step is a website visit, our TikTok bio-link setup guide can help you prepare that route.
After publishing, read the responses for signs of understanding and any remaining uncertainty. Add a brief observation to your worksheet. Compare what people asked before with what they ask now, then choose a specific improvement for the next video. Keep actual enquiries separate from expressions of interest when recording business results.
Manage your Comment Insights preferences
In TikTok, open Profile → menu → TikTok Studio → Settings. The controls for insights on your videos and including your comments in other posts’ insights are separate. TikTok says both are enabled by default and can be changed.
Plan support around your finished video
A useful answer gives your next campaign a clear creative purpose. Once the video and its next step are ready, explore Famix’s TikTok views packages and compare the available quantities, prices and order details. Keep your question worksheet alongside the campaign plan so future content continues to address what your audience wants to understand.
